Positive thinking doesn’t mean you bury your head in the sand and ignore the bad. Positive thinking just means you approach the less pleasant aspects in a more positive manner. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst.
Positive thinking often starts with mind-talk. This is the tireless tape of thoughts that run through your head every day. These thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of your mind-talk comes from logic and reason. Other mind-talk comes from a lack of information.
Some people know they tend to be more optimistic (always thinking positively) whilst others will readily tell you they are a pessimist (tend to think of the worst).
The health benefits of being an optimist are well documented: live longer, less stress, better physical and psychological well-being.
Having a positive attitude also pays dividends for your personal reputation. We like to be around positive people and like to do business with positive people.
What negative thoughts of yours can you flip round to look a the positive side instead? See the difference it makes to how others talk about you.
